| 1126519 | 2010-08-15 05:36:00 | If it is an HP/Compaq and the install is from a standard XP CD, NOT a recovery CD then the patch is not required. What happened HP loaded images that were originally made for Intel CPU's onto AMD Computers. When SP3 goes in Using a HP image/recovery CD it loads it thinking its a Intel -- BUT If you install Windows from fresh using a Normal XP CD, then it loads in the correct software. Ok, that's great! Thanks Wainuitech. Yes The cd I installed XP Home is a genuine Install cd with keycode, not a recovery disc. So now I can just go install SP3 and it should be fine. LL :thanks |
