1126934 2010-08-12 06:34:00 You do realise that the prompt should come up long before it gets to Vista don't you?

The boot order in the bios has been saved?

I go to boot menu, the options are

Removable Drives
H/disk drives
cdrom drive and
boot setting config,
I choose cdrom drive then exit and save changes,F10 save and exit.,I then reboot with win 7 disc in player.

And there is nothing to choose from in the starting series.

Just goes through to Vista.

1126937 2010-08-12 06:56:00 You need to have the CD ROM at the top of that list followed by HDD. Is this the case? Snorkbox (15764)

If you mean what order is it showing in Bios
Then it is as I described.

1126939 2010-08-12 07:05:00 Have a look at boot setting config then. You can get the CDRom to the top of the list with pageup key normally. At least I now believe I know what is wrong. Snorkbox (15764)
1126940 2010-08-12 07:10:00 Hmmmm Seen this before-- by any chance is this a name brand PC ?(more common this happens) even if you select the Optical drive in the BIOS as first boot device it wont boot from it.

Put the DVD in the drive, reboot, and try tapping F12 - hopefully it will bring up a boot menu - if it does select the CD/DVD drive using the arrow keys, then enter, it will reboot and load from the DVD.

Heres a quick video (www.youtube.com) -- At the very beginning you will notice in the bottom left hand corner the wording " Press any key bla bla bla" it only stays there for a few moments.

The rest shows windows loading ( you will see when I get bored waiting :p ) then shows blowing away the existing partitions -- Once W7 is loading you will need to do the same, this will completely wipe Vista, Recovery partition the Lot.

1126941 2010-08-12 08:38:00 Pg Up has no effect and the same wth F12,just carries on to Vista.

The computer was made by Rob99 from here,so not a name jobbie.

1126942 2010-08-12 08:43:00 So what shows in boot settings config? Do you have an entry called boot priority in the BIOS? Snorkbox (15764)
1126943 2010-08-12 08:46:00 What is the make and model of the motherboard and do you have the motherboard manual? Snorkbox (15764)
