1126662 2010-08-11 23:42:00 I had problems partitioning when installing Win 7 OEM Home Premium 32 bit and trying to get the size I wanted, so I used a Win XP disc to partition and format, and then installed Win 7.

I wasn't sure at the time whether it was finger trouble on my part.

Defragged with Defraggler, then tried again & magically I could shrink all I wanted......
(I think I told Defraggler to move all the large files - can't be sure tho)

1126664 2010-08-12 06:09:00 The 100 mb partition is for bitlocker. Which gets created (on some PC's), when you install Win7. And its probably not a good idea to delete it

Thanks, Speedy. I hear and obey! :)

Hmmm - interesting comment. Will look at that if other things fail!

Thanks for that. :)

1126666 2010-08-15 07:21:00 Right - I'm back again (on the new 'puter now!). Progress is slow, but I'm gradually getting there.

Since I last talked to you about partioning I have created an 'unallocated' section of 372 Gb between E (146Gb) and F (314Gb). I am using Paragon Partition Manager 2010 Free. I would like to resize the F to 686Gb (combining the unallocated section with F).

I've gone around in circles on this, and can't see how to do it! Help or suggestions would be most welcome. :)

1126667 2010-08-15 08:11:00 Select the Working partition you want to make bigger, and simply expand it out to fill the unallocated area - if you put your cursor on the very edge of the Bar/line defining the partition, it should turn to a hand which you left click and can drag the bar.

Then apply

Wainui - you've made one 'computer fiddler' very happy. :)
Thanks a lot for that!

Happy things are going OK.

So what do you think of Windows 7 So far ?

1126670 2010-08-15 21:02:00 I've been using Windows 7 on my lappy for a year - so am 'sort' of used to it's funny ways (not that I do much fiddling on the lappy!). That version is the Home Premium one. I have Professional on the desktop, so it is different again.

I am gradually finding where everything is. What I DO love is the increased speed of the new 'puter. Hadn't realised just how slow things were on the old. A task that took a couple of hours on the old, took just 8 minutes yesterday. :)

I'm still having minor glitches (that's why I've taken a couple of days off work...). But with the help of 'me mates' here - all will be sorted!

Thanks to all who have helped me over the years. I'll be back!
