| 1126066 | 2010-08-10 04:10:00 | Are you running this laptop on battery or power? Is the time right on it? Since it can say windows isnt genuine if the time is wrong. But according to the link WT gave WGA wont stop you from booting into XP | Speedy Gonzales (78) | ||

| 1126072 | 2010-08-10 07:04:00 | You've had a run-in with pirating software before. Just be warned that you're treading on thin ice, savvy? | Chilling_Silence (9) | ||
| 1126073 | 2010-08-10 07:05:00 | You can try running the XP CD, load up the recovery console, type in chkdsk /r and see if that fixes anything. You could also do a repair install, may fix it. If it were me I'd be doing a system restore first - BUT then I have the software on hand. Two ways to do a restore though - Either try UBCD4WIN (www.ubcd4win.com) - that has a system restore option ( works about 50% of the time. (Personally I'd use ERD Commander) OR you can do it Via the recovery console - bit long winded, as it requires a bit of DOS work. Theres These commands here (support.microsoft.com) - but I find they usually fail, since it wont allow you to select previous restore points. The one I use if I have to do it Via DOS is in This document (www.box.net) -- it wont display correctly here, so I uploaded it a while back to a sharing site. Just a footnote: IF this IS pirated COA's then its completely against forum rules. Its very easy to check if a COA is illegal as long as the person looking knows the product key -- Some of my customers get a shock when I call them back saying they have pirated software - normally XP PRO as well. |
