Beats going through the windscreen though ;)

It may pay to take some string for round bottom of pants if this sort of thing continues.

It worked in the Great Escape!

843410 2009-12-27 09:52:00 Quick shut the gate - the horse has bolted!

This is easily rectified as mentioned earlier - avoid the US.

As for the last hour of the flight - what happens when the next wannabe martyr has a go in the first hour of the flight? You have to remain seated for the first hour? And then what happens when the next dickhead has a go in the 2nd hour? Will they ban that one too? Talk about absurd.

We had Richard Reid and his failed shoe bombs which set off security pantomine #74 with shoe removal in airports. So what happens when the next guy uses a belt, or a beanie, or his undies? This really is security pantomine. It isn't serious - it's just a complete joke.

843412 2009-12-27 11:19:00 I liked this bit in the second link:

Nigeria's information minister, Dora Akunyili, condemned the attempted bombing.

She said the government has opened its own investigation into the suspect and will work with US authorities.

"We state very clearly that as a nation we abhor all forms of violence," Akunyili said in a statement issued yesterday.Abhor violence, but encourage looting of stupid people's bank accounts????

Alert Lonely Planet immediately - this is essential knowledge for the erstwhile traveller!

(It's probably already in the Hitch Hiker's Guide.)

843415 2009-12-28 04:54:00 So what if you want to go to the toilet?

You use your brains and use the toilet before that time. Not difficult.:groan:

You may have noticed the long queues for the toilets after meals. It is always like that. Anyone who does not want to wait in a queue does the logical thing and uses the toilet before the meal.

I don't think that it requires a great deal of thought to work that out.:groan:

The problem with that scheme (and airline food) is that you may worry where your next meal has come from.

Dammed recycling.

843417 2009-12-30 12:14:00 Two simple Questions;

When has an airport security crackdown actually caught a terrorist?

When has an airport security crackdown actually thwarted a terrorist attack?

However, what the airport security crackdown does do is it creates the illusion that the authorities are taking effective action, and are managing the threat.

This nonsense has removed the USA from my list of places I wished to visit, I just hope it hasn't extended to Canada, as we p[lan to go there next May.
