1126306 2010-08-10 08:09:00 My new 'puter has arrived. I chose not to get a new monitor at this stage, but of course now the 'puter is here, I find the old monitor has a VGA connection (both ends of the cable) and the new 'puter has two DVI connections!

I am asking if that now means I will need to go ahead and get a new monitor or is there an adaptor I can buy? Suggestions/comments would be gratefully received.:)

1126308 2010-08-10 08:14:00 If it's a decent LCD monitor it should have a DVI input as well, otherwise you can buy DVI-VGA adaptors. pcuser42 (130)

1126311 2010-08-10 21:19:00 some video cards should come with a vga converter thingy. at least the 2 PCI-X did for me.

initially you don't notice that much, after a while and you go back to VGA, you DO notice the difference. it's almost like going from film to digital photog. meaning the finegrain low ISO stuff. *almost*, IMO a bit like saying digital ISO 400 vs film ISO 100 (consumer film like Kodak Gold / Fuji Superia).
