1125612 2010-08-08 06:22:00 Hey

My left Ctrl key is broken on my laptop (Toshiba Tecra A7). Is there any reliable way to re-map some other key to the Ctrl function? Maybe using the registry or another program? Ideally it would be good if I could re-map the Fn (Function) key which is right next to the Ctrl key on the bottom left or even CapsLock as I hardly ever use that. Even the tilde ~ key that's not really useful unless you want to type into the command line in games. Even Insert key (who uses that?).

Really missing my keyboard copy-paste and ctrl+alt+del. Hunted high and low on the internet and still not found anything. :annoyed:

Any ideas? Thanks :clap

1125613 2010-08-08 06:55:00 Well I just found this page:
vlaurie.com

And have re-mapped the CapsLock key to the Ctrl key successfully using the KeyTweak program. However it doesn't seem to work mapping the Fn key. I would still like to use the Toshiba 'Fn' key as it's more geographically similar to the left control key.

1125614 2010-08-08 07:45:00 When you say it is broken, does it just not work or is the key physicaly broken or missing? Driftwood (5551)

www.microsoft.com

I can't test it here but it looks promising.

1125617 2010-08-08 08:52:00 Gave that one a go but doesn't let you map the Fn key or any main keys like Alt,Ctrl,Enter,CapsLock etc. Orca (3098)
