1127843 2010-08-15 02:23:00 Hi everyone again,
I have another motherboard that I kept from my old, old computer. I don't know the brand and name of the motherboard. All I know is that it's a Taiwanese brand, has N1996 in it's name, and it's a really old motherboard. I tried searching Google with no luck. I can take a photo of it if necessary. It comes with a AMD Athlon 1150MHz, 256MB RAM, Maxtor 6E040L0 40GB Hard Drive, Samsung CD-Master 52E Model SC-152, Novia Switching Power Supply Model LC-A300ATX, NVidia Video Card which is now dead, and a Floppy Drive which I don't know wether it works or not. It had Windows 2000 before.
Thanks:thanks :thanks :thanks

1127845 2010-08-15 02:30:00 Could be an MSI mobo. N1996 by the looks of it isn't the model, its the code for it. Does the mobo look like this ?

1127846 2010-08-15 02:52:00 if its not a MSI - then download and run SIW (www.snapfiles.com)- This version doesn't install its just a exe file - On the left select motherboard and it will show all its details. wainuitech (129)

1127850 2010-08-15 08:34:00 I prefer Everest, as it's usually the most accurate.

But sometimes, you just can't trust ANY software (especially for cheaper boards like PC-Chips etc)

The thing is they use the BIOS for the ID, and if the BIOS is wrong, or that BIOS is used on several boards, you can't tell which it is.

Good thing is most boards will have the model printed on them somewhere, worst I've seen was PC-Chips, where the number is written very very small and buried up by the keyboard connector which is usually the hardest place to see when the board is inside a case.

It's probably MSI.
Somewhere on the board will be it's model number - not next to where it says N1996.
