1127302 2010-08-12 22:01:00 Hi,

Just reading in the latest issue that it's easy to sell a laptop . That may be, but how can you be sure that you've wiped all your personal details off the device before selling it on?

I'm talking about Facebook logins, online banking details, user names and passwords for all kinds of sites and probably other things I don't even know about .

Is there a way of wiping your laptop clean before selling it on . If so - how and where?

Thanks,
Gavino

1127303 2010-08-12 22:07:00 Download this ISO then burn it to a cd, then boot from it. It may take a while. Depending on how big the hdd is. Its only 10.5 mb. So wont take long to download / burn

What if it's a notebook without a CD drive I'm after wiping?

There is a floppy dos version on the site as well!

1127306 2010-08-12 22:29:00 You do realise that if you use the application that Speedy suggested that it will wipe your entire hard drive clean? This means you will need to reinstall the Windows operating system, motherboard drivers, graphic drivers and any other driver required for the laptop to function, before you sell it?

Or are you just wanting to remove your personal files without removing the Windows operating system?

1127310 2010-08-12 23:16:00 What if you make a new user account then remove yours?

this may be a worthwhile read

1127311 2010-08-12 23:17:00 easiest way is prob do what speedy said then use your recovery cd to load the stuff back on. or use the hidden partition to access the setup files.

or ... hows the customer gonna have a licensed windows? just installed? no recovery options?
