845635 2010-01-08 11:25:00 Iraq was a combination of trying to retaliate against someone for 9/11, getting their oil and adding another base for US troops in the middle east. If you look at a map of the area now, only Iran and Syria are left as significant anti-western states or those without an american presence.

But who's to say this is all necessarily a bad thing.

845636 2010-01-08 13:04:00 So maybe the US really did invaded by mistake based on Weapons of mass destruction hysteria. Still find it a tad funny "We are allowed nukes, your not!"

+++++++

neculear components and chemical wepons went to Syria along with 2 or 3 fighter wings.

The Transfer of the fighters was confirmed repeatedly.

nobody wants to talk about the wmd's.

The Israleis have sucessfully bommed neculear facilities in Syria, since then.

++++

The yanks wanted the oil, The yanks wanted the oil, repeat, repeat , repeat.

BS

If they wanted it, they would have taken it.

Everybody hates the policeman.

The Yanks are the defacto global policeman, the other two choices are: china, and russia.

Eventually the yanks will go broke playing global policeman and the russians or the chines will take over.

Hopefully I will be dead by then because when that happens a lot of people will suddenly discover how nice the yanks were/are.:horrified

845638 2010-01-08 20:36:00 Don't forget that Tony Blair (sp?) and the Israeli Mossad also confirmed that there were WMDs in there too.

Too funny, SJ. You would seriously believe liars like Blair and the Mossad??? The words confirmed, Blair and Mossad cannot be used in any sensible sentence, except - "It has been confirmed that Blair and the Mossad will tell any porkies they think up to suit their own agenda". They would say whatever was likely to achieve their own personal ambitions (Blair) or their own political agenda (Mossad).

Apart from which, the Brits have been America's lapdog since WW2. When told to jump, the Poms bend over like the good wee public school boys they are. It is unimaginable that American politicians would say "Oh, Blair has confirmed it - it must be right then". They are more likely to say "How can we screw that limey Blair so he has to back us up", or "Blair? Remind me?".

I still believe in the grand conspiracy theme and that 9-11 is just another Pearl Harbor - designed to rustle up some support from a lethargic general population and get them all on the same page for $$$$ for big war-machines and business .

As far as scare-tactics, it worked pretty good! :blush:

Yes Blair did confirm, he confirmed on the intelligence given to him by the states, and has since said he knew the intelligence given to him was wrong .

845642 2010-01-08 22:45:00 There appears to be some in this forum, whose hatred for the USA, the British, indeed may I suggest the Western Alliance of NATO, and especially the Israelis, that blinds them to a few simple facts:
We in Australia and New Zealand have the freedoms we enjoy courtesy of the USA and the Western Alliance, The American people have picked up most of the horrendous financial burden of guaranteeing that the lifestyle and freedoms we personally enjoy have continued.

This is not saying that the USA and the Western Alliance have not made mistakes - they have made some very costly mistakes - possibly one of the greatest was not taking out Sadam Hussein in 1991.

If the Soviet block had prevailed instead of NATO, then Europe would be a very different place to what it is today. Simmillarly, if the Communists had overun SE Asia in the late 40s and 50s, I doubt that NEW Zealand would have necessarily remained pleasant peaceful and relatively prosperous place to live.

We in Western societies need to be very much aware, that if Al quida and Militant Islam prevail, then within a couple of generations the freedoms and lifestyle that so many take for granted will probably become a distant memory.
It won't effect me, but I wish for a better life for my grand children not a worse one.

845643 2010-01-08 23:26:00 Hardly put isriel as a country in the Western Alliance they have been forbidden for ever to join NATO. They are still an occupying force in Palestine. There would be outrage and world war 3 if they were allowed to join the in the Euro community as a member.
As far as stopping the comies invading SE Asia after they toppled the corrupt regime in the south vietnam well they didnt did they.
They had war with commy china went into cambodia tossed out the Kymer Rouge and split.
There was no domino effect.
In my opinion the biggest problem is the current Egypt regime co operating with isarel.

845644 2010-01-09 02:23:00 Muslim suicide bombers in Britain are set to begin a three-day strike on Monday in a dispute over the number of virgins they are entitled to in the afterlife . Emergency talks with Al Qaeda management have so far failed to produce an agreement .

The unrest began last Tuesday when Al Qaeda announced that the number of virgins a suicide bomber would receive after his death will be cut by 25% next January from 72 to only 60 . The rationale for the cut was the increase in recent years of the number of suicide bombings and a subsequent shortage of virgins in the afterlife .

The suicide bombers' union, the British Organisation of Occupational Martyrs (or B . O . O . M . ) responded with a statement that this was unacceptable to its members and immediately balloted for strike action . General secretary A bdullah A mir told the press, "Our members are literally working themselves to death in the cause of jihad . We don't ask for much in return but to be treated like this by management is a kick in the teeth . "

Mr A mir accepted the limited availability of virgins but pointed out that the cutbacks were expected to be borne entirely by the workforce and not by management . . "Last Christmas A bu Hamza alone was awarded an annual bonus of 250,000 virgins," complains A mir . " A ND you can be sure they'll all be pretty ones too . How can A l Qaeda afford that for members of the management but not 72 for the people who do the real work?"
