844597 2009-12-31 23:53:00 +1 for johcar

The movie freakin rocked, potentially more-so as I saw it in 3D. Best $18 I've spent in a long time.

When watching it, I'm not thinking "Ooooh this represents BMF's swaying around a dead person to bring them back to life", Im thinkin "Ooooh what pretty colors they used".

Some people either need to get down from their high horse, or be shot off it.

844599 2010-01-01 09:56:00 I have to tread carefully on this topic because I'm already skating on thin ice over my previous racist remarks.

I'm thought it was a weird article but I didn't think he called the film racist. Hell if you analysed the movie it would be implausible on many levels so I'm not sure why anyone would worry about how accurately it portrays colonisation.

But interesting you acknowledge your previous comments were racist!!!

844600 2010-01-01 18:55:00 Given the intake of alcoholic beverages by indigenous populations (especially at this time of the year)

Seems to be a whole load of indigenous people on this forum then, based on consumption of alcoholic beverages.

Yep, I was born here. That makes me indigenous (at least in my book - hell, even the Maori are imports, they've just been here a bit longer).

844603 2010-01-02 04:45:00 as with most forms of art, people see what they want to see.

some will have seen a love story.
some will have seen a war movie.
some will have seen a parallel with iraq and oil.
some will have seen a scf/fi film about strange world with blue people.

this guy has seen it as a film about the negative impact of colonisation on indigenous culture.

my only problem is that "stuff" published his rant as a film review, it's not a film review, it's a political statement.

each to there own...

844604 2010-01-02 05:54:00 OK, the "review" was a bit pathetic; but please give them credit for very neat printing. R2x1 (4628)
