844930 2010-01-02 21:41:00 Hi, just out of interest, when things are repaired are they just replaced or are they taken apart and repaired by the tech or sent to the service centre and repaired likewise?

Cheers.

844931 2010-01-02 22:00:00 Depends what it is, and if its knackered. If its completely knackered, then obviously, it'll have to be replaced. Like the hdd I had, it was dead as. It wouldnt even boot into windows. I took it back to the shop, they sent it back to Albany. It took 2 weeks to come back. I doubt it was the same hdd, because it was tested at the shop as well. And it wouldnt boot into windows either Speedy Gonzales (78)

844935 2010-01-03 01:26:00 I always try to fix stuff myself at least have a look at it. If I cant fix it I smash it up to stop bugger cleverer than me finding it and boasting how they found something at the tip and fixed it up. prefect (6291)
844936 2010-01-03 03:18:00 Here's a good one, happened a few days ago, the heat shield under the silencer must have come off my chainsaw (a Huskvana), and a hole has been burnt through the oil chamber and also melted part of the oil pump. Wow, the oil and the smoke.....

(I had to keep going with it, pouring oil onto the chain, otherwise some other thieving hound would have come along and taken the tree.........:) )

Haven't got a quote yet for repair, but most likely I'll try and get hold of the oil pump part, and repair the hole with a patch.

With a shop repair half of the plastic body parts would need replacing, presumably at mega$$$$$, and no guarantee it wouldn't happen again.

The heat shield at the top above the silencer also fell off last year and I pop rivetted that back on with high temperature gasket material under it.

I wouldn't buy another Huskvana, there is a serious design flaw here. Edit: I've also had many screws work loose and lost some. No built in locking mechanism for the screws and they cant be tightned that much in plastic....total crap.

Right, thanks very muchly for that advice, I must try that, wasn't aware of that grade. Does it need a primer ?

I wonder why something like that wasn't applied during manufacture.

How old is it .
Do you do it's regular maintenance?

I showed husband who has loved Huskys forever . Well since about 20 yrs ago when he had a bad Stihl .

Our last one lasted 15 years with regular thrashing . Current one 1 year so far .
