| 1128352 | 2010-08-16 10:07:00 | Strange problem, recently changed our wireless modem, since then one laptop (toshiba, vista home prem) logs onto the network but calls it local only and no internet, other laptops are fine receiving full service, the machine with no internet is ok when connected via a network cable to the same modem, any ideas ? Have tried putting in fixed DNS numbers and not but it just cannot see the net via wireless, tried repairing etc no good. Advise pls. | toddh (6125) | ||

If it's simply complaining it's a local-only connection with no internet, usually that's 4 things: 1) Connection to the internet is down (Not your issue, as others are online) 2) Incorrect gateway setting 3) Firewall in the way, somewhere between the internet and the device 4) Malware / viruses / trojans I would check (2) and (4) first personally. What happens if you take the laptop to another wireless network, does it also fail? |
