846413 2010-01-06 23:33:00 Hi all,
Just been trying out the NOD32 Linux Desktop beta on both my PCLinuxOS
machine and SWMBO's, must say I'm very impressed with it's performance, didn't find anything, it is reassuring to know they are not harbouring malware, which might infect my Windows machines.

Anyone tried it on other Linux distros, Mint for instance?

That was not my concern really though.
The main reason is to ensure that my Linux boxes don't download Windows malware and
thereby infect my Windows machines, either through the network or via flash drives.

Exactly - same thing applies with macs. Often schools that run macs and windows PCs find the macs are a carrier of autorun viruses, even though the mac is not directly affected it still causes a large problem cause most teachers use their flash drives everywhere and run E-trust which is basically a glorified box ticker, every flash drive in the school ends up getting infected and getting the whole lot clean at the same time is very difficult.

Bit like your flash drive having unprotected sex with a whole street.

Someone from PressF1 should become IT minister/whatever and make Norton illegal.

846421 2010-01-07 08:05:00 Norton is the Lucas of IT ;)

Expensive, complex, doesn't work. Both products are striving to approach MS for the crown of "Best example of marketing triumphing over common sense."
