| 848555 | 2010-01-14 01:29:00 | I seldom get spam, but the latest I received is apparently a bit of a nasty. The email was from some shizza-head masquerading as a DHL rep. It contains a .zip file. Open it at your peril! On this note, I reckon PF1 should have a new section for warnings about this kind of shizza. Given that the PF1 community is largely respected, it would be a good point of reference for those who're new to some of the dirtier stuff that comes our way via the Internet. |

| 848559 | 2010-01-14 02:15:00 | In addition to the DHL undelivered package scam/virus, there is also the Western Union we have $8069 of yours email, just open the attached document and print for details, both the Western Union and DHL are regular one's that I screen out in Mailwasher. Another please print out attached document email virus is the your new Sony Laptop order has been processed. Another less regular one is that my order has been processed and billed to my credit card, please see attached document as the receipt, the last one was for goldfish that I had *ordered* from some company in the USA. Another recent email virus that has been doing the rounds, similair to the banking scams, urgent message from your ISP advising that owing to a forth coming overnight upgrade of there mail server, I have to apply the attached patch or follow the link to upgrade my mail client to access my mail. Haven't seen any NZ or Australian banking scam messages in the last couple of months though just before Xmas, was hit with a flood of bank security messages for USA banks that my account had been frozen. Other virus messages or messages to links with virus's/malware/other can be credit card related, ebay, etc. The biggest scam I get at the moment is the usual heart breaking story of someone with cancer who floated for 300 days at sea after a earthquake wanting to share there $500M with me before the next disaster hits or messages from the FBI that I am being monitored for illegal dealings with some bank in Africa. And no doubt there are other scams or virus emails or links to virus sites doing the rounds. |
