848497 2010-01-14 00:10:00 it's just like a cheque fee...

if Visa don't like it then they should stop charging it.
if customers don't like it then they can shop somewhere else or not use visa.

it's not like there are not choices in this world.

848499 2010-01-14 00:31:00 Saw that on last nights late news -- first thing I thought was -- strange how the credit card companies wont drop the merchant service charges -- they want their cake and eat it to, they suggested its an "expense a business should cover" -- either way the CC people still get their $$$$$$ wainuitech (129)

Maybe I missed it, but how much has the price of petrol dropped in those stations where the retailer is no longer carrying the cost of credit card transactions? Looks to me like they still charge the same as those outlets that treat it as a business expense which I am fairly sure they will have factored in to the selling price anyway.

Its called having your cake and eat it too........

Bit like the BP service station nearby, several times he has been bleating in the local papers about how tight margins are, how he is doing the community a service staying open etc and then charges 1cent/lt more than anyone else.

848503 2010-01-14 02:45:00 Do you not use the credit account on eftpos when using a debit card? Gobe1 (6290)
848504 2010-01-14 03:22:00 The man from Visa looked as if he was having a stroke when the reporter asked him what effect it would have if all retailers used the charge. On that basis alone I think they should. Sam I Am (1679)

I was told by the bank to press the cheque button, so I guess so.
