1129910 2010-11-24 22:11:00 I think it's OK. But can you please send the link to the online analysis? it's much easier to read.

Run Memtest86+ if you haven't already.

this should be mine:
Your hard disk is a ST3120026A with firmware 3.06.
The average temperature for this hard disk is 36C (MIN=25C MAX=48C) and yours is 35C.
Your hard disk's S.M.A.R.T. attributes are now being analyzed and a full report about the reliability, health and status of your hard disk is generated:
Your hard disk is not below any attribute threshold. This is good.
Your hard disk was never below any attribute threshold. This is good.
Your hard disk is now being compared to real data used to define normal values for your specific hard disk model. This way, the analysis can automatically use proper operating ranges. The images give you an idea of how each attribute is within such range. Current and raw values are shown for easier reference for experienced users. There are 2684 hard disk models in the current archive.

1129912 2010-11-25 06:30:00 hope this link works:

www.hddstatus.com

There will be a link right at the bottom of the page, where it says something like "The link to look at future reports for this hard drive is this"

Right-click on the "this" and copy the URL, paste it here.

But from what I can see of the data you already posted it looks like your hard drive is OK.

I would get http://www.memtest.org/ and run that if you haven't already.

1129916 2010-12-09 09:03:00 ok, so I downloaded memtest autoinstaller for usb drive, and loaded it sucessfully, then rebooted PC with usb plugged in and nothing happened...

am I meant to open PC in safe mode, then boot it (or will it take it from there?)

I looked thru the memtest website & couldn't find any directions anywhere... anyone able to shed some light on what I need to be doing please?

1129917 2010-12-09 09:31:00 I have never used the USB installer for memtest, so I don't know how you're supposed to use it. But your system must support booting from USB and have USB in the boot order.

You may need to change this in the BIOS setup.

Using floppy or CD is probably easier.
