1129633 2010-08-19 23:41:00 Gigabyte MB manual says that we should connect the 'L-shaped' end of the SATA cable to the HDD. Does it really matter which end should it be connected? Not all SATA cables have the 'L-shaped' end. bk T (215)
1129634 2010-08-19 23:44:00 I dont think it matters
But the 90 degree might block other ports on the motherboard depending which sata port you place it in

1129635 2010-08-19 23:56:00 I put together a Gigabyte m/b system only about a week ago and found that it was easier to put the L shaped end on the motherboard. It runs quite happily like that. So in my view it matters not. Snorkbox (15764)

1129637 2010-08-20 03:53:00 My GPU goes over top of my SATA slots, so I have to use 90 degree (L) cables on the motherboard, otherwise they are too high to be plugged in at the same time as the graphics card. :P Cellux (15145)
1129638 2010-08-20 05:33:00 It doesn't matter at all.

The L shaped end is designed for the hard drive to make more room for long cards such as graphics cards I believe.

But like others have said, using the L shaped end on the motherboard may block other ports or be blocked by components on the board.

Just use it whichever way works for you!

1129639 2010-08-20 09:10:00 Usually I use the L shaped Connector on the Optical drive and the HDD connections, drops them down Vertically with more room for cables, Esp if using a small case where a lot of room is not available. The straight end plugs into the Motherboard. wainuitech (129)
1129640 2010-08-20 09:20:00 I always put the straight end into the motherboard, but really what ever seems to work best for your build radium (8645)
