1130782 2010-08-22 23:33:00 Can this be easily done? nedkelly (9059)
1130783 2010-08-23 00:11:00 I know dial up modems can detect incoming calls while you arte connected via the d.u modem, and software can display the callers number, but im not sure whether or not this can be done when the modem is NOT connected to the internet

1130784 2010-08-23 00:16:00 You can do this through soft-phone software plugged directly into the DSL modem.
Google for it you will find tons available.

Also if interested you can set up a IVR and redirects on your home line through the same software without paying for the service from your Telco.

1130785 2010-08-23 00:28:00 In theory, yes it's quite achievable, but in practice.. not so.

One problem you might find is the NZ CallerID system is not 'standard' and won't work with DialUp modems that can display CallerID.

1130786 2010-08-23 07:10:00 It's also worth noting that a few months of power to run this beast will probably cost more than buying a new CID-capable phone anyway. Erayd (23)
1130787 2010-08-23 07:53:00 I have set it up but am not sure if it is working right, or it might be my cellphones causing problems. Will try again tomorrow. nedkelly (9059)
