1130647 2010-08-22 09:46:00 Hi all, just cleaning up a slow pc with nearly a full hd. There are two Old PC files which date from earlier reinstalls about 4 years ago. One of the largest files in each is Windows. This appears to hold various files for the internet etc.

Can I delete these? 600MB and 1.9GB in size.

1130648 2010-08-22 09:51:00 No at first sight. They are the operating system(s).

I would think you are talking about folders rather than files.

1130649 2010-08-22 09:55:00 Also are we talking about one hard drive with two partitions? Snorkbox (15764)
1130650 2010-08-22 09:56:00 +1 with Snorkbox .... need more info before deleting. They could be needed or old backup files. SP8's (9836)
1130651 2010-08-22 10:11:00 Also has this PC been upgraded to Win7 and one file ( Folder ) Windows.old? Snorkbox (15764)

1130653 2010-08-22 13:46:00 OK - think I'll leave them be. Or drill down into each folder and delete individual files.

While you were reading my question, I deleted a Program folder figuring it was archival. Bad idea. MS Office disappeared. :drool

Reinstated and everyone was happy but I was the subject of some harsh glares for a few minutes. :p

If it ever says Office 11 or 12 then never delete them!
