850956 2010-01-22 20:18:00 The pre pay for both of these suck.
I was going to get one but effectively they are both $30 a month as the unused GB is lost at the end of the month.
I reckon both of them are in cahoots for pricing.

850957 2010-01-22 21:55:00 It was my understanding that the TStick prepay was $30 for 300MB (rip-off!) but that you only had to top up every six months to keep the device "active" and that data paid for stayed until you used it.

I just got one for my daughter on the freebie offer Telecom launched before Xmas so she can take it to university in Wellington to use with her EeePC this year.

If I discover you are correct, prefect, Telecom will have a VERY angry father turning up to the store where we got it! And the Commerce Commission would also be getting a letter in this situation.

850959 2010-01-22 22:17:00 plod - I believe that refers to the initial 500MB (a whole FREE (e)xtra 200MB) added to sweeten to pot for this offer, rather than the 300MB you buy for $30 on a prepay basis... johcar (6283)

Although telecoms terms are totally vague as usual, I turned down teh 'free' t-stick, because they told me that the credit does expire at the end of the month, which I though was very poor as you do pay cash for it. Really it is a rip off for such a small amount of data. I was surprised at how many people thought it was a good deal. If I need mobile interent, I just use my 3g phone connected to the laptop and is $1 for 10MBs with VF for a day, and I just use it for email. Still expensive, but thats what you get for living in NZ, a lack of competition in key markets (eg food)

As are post-paid!

Well, if I get a response back that all credit expires at the end of each month
the device will be going back unused, for a refund.
