| 850259 | 2010-01-20 20:36:00 | I was there that day. The pilot had two attempts at landing and it was the second attempt that bent the undercarriage. At the time I was living in Strathmore Park and a group of us were on the sandhills on the eastern side of the airport. I remember the kerosene smell too as the Vulcan left for Ohakea. |

| 850260 | 2010-01-20 20:39:00 | It was a beautiful plane & possibly ahead of it's time. I remember seeing one at the Finningly Airshow in Yorkshire. It did a very short take off run then went straight up, vertical, into the air. Eardrum shattering noise....but awesome. PJ |

A video of the opening of Wellington Airport:- www.youtube.com I used to attend Rongotai College while the Airport was being extended. All those motor scrapers stirred up the dust a fair bit. |

I lived next to an Englishman who was in the know and his learned opinion of the pilot was that he was a bit of a tearaway. It was sickening experience examining the cockpit radio gear after the crash |

What worth is his "learned opinion" if the pilot was still alive in 2008 and as far as I can tell no Vulcans crashed in Malaya. |
