849734 2010-01-18 20:03:00 I purchased my brother HL2040 in September 2006 at $149. Mine looks quite different from the one in the video clip. I bought another toner cartridge when the first one ran out, and now buy reloaded catridges. The current cartridge was showing the warning light about 2 months ago. From time to time I give it a good longitudinal shaking (it isn't a baby so it is OK). The light now only appears sporadically, and I just ignore it. Brucem (8688)
849735 2010-01-18 20:09:00 Has the firmware ever been updated Bruce?? Since that may or should fix it detecting new cartridges

Firmware updated: 04/12/2008 v 1.30
The following improvements are included in this update:

* Improves the control of the Cooling Fan.
* Improvement for new toner cartridge detection.
* Added LED error message "Drum Error.

849736 2010-01-18 20:22:00 The 2040 has been replaced by the HL-2140 I think. Cicero (40)
849737 2010-01-19 04:40:00 I updated the driver, now it warns that toner is low, now empty as before, thanks for the suggestion. Brucem (8688)
849738 2010-01-20 08:59:00 Every ******* thing I buy drops massively in price a few nanoseconds after I buy it.
We paid $50 for Po the teletubbie when (boy had to have one) they first came out saw them a few months later in warehouse for $5.
