1130796 2010-08-23 00:54:00 My flattie has a yamaha home audio amplifier, and the remote got stolen a few years ago. The amp itself has an analogue (rotating) volume control, which is motorised for when the volume is changed via the remote.
As genuine replacement remotes are expensive, is there any way i can get around this, we just want to be able to control the volume and input via remote. Would a multi function remote do it or do you need the original remote to 'teach' it?

Since it uses a program, (you connect it to USB), where you can select the brand/model of whatever (and hopefully its there). Then muck around with the options you want, then update the remote. Voila.
