I'm posting another thread cos the original one is locked:
pressf1.pcworld.co.nz

I got the money back after a while.

As a result I like to take more action from the people who got my CC #. I think I do know who it was. I seldom use that CC because they use a CC payment site that my primary CC does not work with. I bought a mobile phone at a Auckland Asian parallel import shop. They took my card numbers and went to another Auckland Asian store but a chain store and bought a phone for themselves. They also put money onto their Skype accounts.

I could just ignore this and let them get away with it. Have anyone took the matter further?

Cheers.

850839 2010-01-22 03:32:00 Well, I'd take take them for all they have. If it was infact a shop, you could sue them big time and possibly have severe implications for them.

Tell them to pay for damages and time lost, and tell them if they don't you'll write to the papers about them etc. They should pay you off.
Stealing is stealing, even if it was 1$. It's a huge betrayal of confidence.

Probably are. :p

Personally, if you are going to live in fear, might as well kill yourself.

850845 2010-01-22 09:26:00 One month I was checking my work Visa bill when I found a $1.56 entry from a gas station in Mesa Verde (Arizona, I think) at 1:30 am on 26 June, except that I was in bed in ChCh at that time. I took it to our Admin lady, and she said it's just a mistake, don't worry about it.

But next month there was over $10K of entries on my card for airfares and hotels and rental cars from all over Europe. And the following 2 months were the same, even though we'd reported it to Visa and they had cancelled the card - most places in Europe they use a zip-zap machine, so how effective is cancelling the card?

But Visa just refunded my work all the invalid debits and we heard nothing more.

A year or so earlier, I'd been to the US on a work trip. When you go to a restaurant there, they bring the bill in a folder, then you put your credit card in the folder and they take it away to process. I always feel uncomfortable about that.
