The FFL is especially well known for demanding extremely high standards of fitness, physical and physological. I would talk to someone who has been through Army training to get some idea of what is expected. | PPp (9511) | ||

I would talk to someone who has been through Army training to get some idea of what is expected. I believe I am strong mentally, and physically, well, a bit of pain doesn't hurt. I did the Army Careers Expo last year, spent a week out at Burnham, absolutely loved it, did the obstacle course, carried logs/pallets/barrels/etc round all day, did plenty of PT, plenty of punishment PT, lots of marching, more log carrying ... I know the actual basic would be a lot harder than anything I've ever been through (both for the FFL and NZ army) but I believe I have the motivation, discipline and dedication to get through it. |

Aussie infantry units rotate through East Timor that gives some "valuable" experience in living in an F**** unpleasant place, without too much risk. Re RNZAF - don't waste your time on the New Zealand Air Farce - that is unless you just want a job and some training. |

| 853116 | 2010-01-31 06:25:00 | That's not quite what I said. The RNZA has a lot of non-combat roles and Wolf indicated he wanted to be a driver. Artillery isn't considered front line so, in my day, there were a lot more women in the Artillery than the Infantry. Were you in 161 Battery Rob? I did survey in HQ. i was 163 and 161, was awesome fun, but the drivers were part of the unit meaning they were part of the guns so had to race back to the front line. the only females we had were medics and store persons. but they were more with their own core. One of the best things I ever got into! |

Am going to doctors tomorrow to try and say it was just a chest infection and that I don't have asthma, and my GP is a pretty good guy so hopefully he'll be able to help, he knew I was trying to get into the Army. Am not worried about being deployed and seeing some action, it's what you're trained for. However I knew with my asthma (if I did get in) I would've never been deployed overseas because I would've been a 'liability'. |

You don't have asthma so you can get in the army but if they want to deploy you then you do?????????????????????????? |

Sure you get trained to do it, but at the end of the day you do get a choice to whether you go or not. As far as I know if you make it through the meds and fitness you can do anything. Being an independent driver you have alot to be contending with, being a teeth arms driver you will tour. I say go for gold, do everything to get in, you will not regret it. |

| 853121 | 2010-01-31 23:32:00 | Sounds like it is you who has been watching too many movies. Murderers and criminals with a bad history cannot join anymore. Dodgy foreigners? Define that? It's for people who have maybe not been able to get into their own Army (like myself) etc. LOL, Rubbish! And um, to join the FFL you have to go to France...so that kind of ruins your legal means statement. Er, NO, im talking about people already in France illegelly.......... After 3 years you can apply to be a French citizen. Get your head out of the movies and your fact straights. Whatever, did you watch the program on it last night? |
