852012 2010-02-04 02:25:00 Sometimes like this case the drive is completely unbootable, it has the virtu virus, which infects just about any exe file, even in safe mode. as soon as you try to install anything it kills it.

Just scanning another fresh clone now with Gdata -- so far its looking like Nod32 still out performs it --- as they say --Stay tuned ;)

Meh - using two separate detection engines is cheating I say! :p

852013 2010-02-04 03:25:00 Meh - using two separate detection engines is cheating I say! Well the test is finished with GDATA --

Any one hear me laughing :D

WHAT A ******* JOKE - Where do they get their results from is beyond me started off OK, then it all turned to crap.

Edited: Well actually it didn't, both Nod32 and Norton instantly detected active viruses on the cloned drive and stopped them even before starting a scan - Gdata --Nothing

Please NOTE: NORTON IS BETTER than Gdata by 100% -- YES I said it ;)

OK -- Did a scan as previously mentioned, clean W7 cloned infected drive Gdata finished scan (www.imagef1.net.nz) hmmm OK about par with Norton - ( the not being checked in that picture is the C drive, a full scan of both drives was done after that - same results)

Now the fun - according to the install its fully functional for 30 days -- get this , it wont auto quarantine like its meant to - you have to MANUALLY click each file and quarantine /Delete :groan:

Thought it may be a dud, so recloned the W7 - downloaded the internet security - same thing. OK, did a complete scan of both drives - Talk about hopeless (www.imagef1.net.nz) lots of files Access Denied, any zipped file, cant delete or quarantine it.

I've written to them asking why you have to manually delete infected files even after it's meant to do it.

Not even going to bother rescanning with Nod32 - as I know it will find every thing Gdata cant do anything about, all 1600 + files.

Conclusion :yuck: On a scale of 1-10 in being top --- errr wheres the scale start ;)

852015 2010-02-04 03:34:00 Is it Nortons new release being "road tested" in camouflage? R2x1 (4628)
852016 2010-02-04 03:52:00 Where is MSSE? bob_doe_nz (92)
852017 2010-02-04 04:03:00 Where is MSSE? On my pen Drive :p

Good point though - need something to do while two laptops do scans and updates.

852018 2010-02-04 08:13:00 Nice work Wainui! sure is great to have true real independant testing! It's good to be able to put trust some trust into a known good working AV.
Always a pleasure to read your threads and see the results!

I will show my boss how his beloved Nortons leaves much to be desired!

Thanks

852019 2010-02-04 08:27:00 Unfortunately, there's something worse than Norton now - just hope he hasn't heard of Gdata. ;) pcuser42 (130)
852020 2010-02-04 08:30:00 Not even going to bother rescanning with Nod32 - as I know it will find every thing Gdata cant do anything about, all 1600 + files.

Conclusion :yuck: On a scale of 1-10 in being top --- errr wheres the scale start ;)

How the buggery bollocks can an AV app using the engines from both Avast and Bitdefender be worse than either of those individually? :illogical
