Just because we haven't seen action in few years (not true for the SAS but still) doesn't mean you couldn't be called up tomorrow. For one, I'm no ****in hippie so don't speak to me like I'm one. Secondly, If some dipshit politician tried to tell me who to kill I would do it with their head on a stake. If I wanted to be in the army I would have applied to be in the army. Thirdly, An invading force would be an excellent idea as long as started at the top and settled somewhere around Hamilton. Throw a few missiles on Wellington to settle the idiots and its all gravy. Need an act of parliament to force people into the army. Even as a conservative I am against conscription in any shape or form. No probs in the old days give some waxhead a .303 and a steel hat 3 months training and send them into battle. If they didnt follow orders they were sent to the glass house and if they deserted you could shoot them with a several 303s at once. The army and the modern battlefield is no place to be for someone who doesn't want to be there unless you use clever suicide tactics like Iran did with its war with Iraq.	prefect (6291)
853074	2010-01-29 00:15:00	NZ Army no contract as such, depending on trade you have to do return service (usually something like 2 years). Commission = reserve/territorials? Am going to doctors on Monday, he'd already told me he said he thought I'd be fine for enlistment in the Army, and I told them that, but it didn't seem to change anything. Anyone know if Aussies take on asthmatics? Heard they did? Commission = Officer, pay will be somewhat better too. As for the Aussie, I believe it depends on severity.	Cato (6936)

853079	2010-01-29 02:02:00	NZ Army wouldn't take me because I had asthma, even though I could ace their physical tests. FFL won't know. TBH I ****ed up by telling the Army I had asthma, everyone lies to get in. I won't make the same mistake if I get to the FFL. And have been talking to someone who used to be in the NZArmy, they reckon I should go back to my doctor and try and pass my asthma off as having a chest infection or something at the time and that I don't actually have it. She also said half of the people on Basic are smokers, lazy, unmotivated, can't handle it etc. I'm not like that. Why should they get in and not me. I'm not giving up. Do you have any idea what the FFL is?, its not a movie!...its full of desperate criminals and dodgy foreigners who cant get into France by legal means! They will eat you up!	SolMiester (139)

They will eat you up! Sounds like it is you who has been watching too many movies. Murderers and criminals with a bad history cannot join anymore. Dodgy foreigners? Define that? It's for people who have maybe not been able to get into their own Army (like myself) etc. And um, to join the FFL you have to go to France...so that kind of ruins your legal means statement. After 3 years you can apply to be a French citizen. Get your head out of the movies and your fact straights.	--Wolf-- (128)
