851972 2010-01-26 02:38:00 Educated Guess R2x1-- The PC has two file sharing programs, Frostwire and Limewire --- Need any more guesses :p
Zounds, saw those two last week. And a bunch of their little friends. Father was not very happy with his little daughter.
Quick fix ~ he does frequent back-ups unlike the first two times his cup overflowed. Now he can re-install Nortons yet again. Still got to let the lesson be learned a couple more times.

851974 2010-01-26 07:24:00 I do wonder if AVG was current as I thought the latest wouldn't run on W2k. mikebartnz (21)
851975 2010-01-26 07:31:00 It was AVG 7.5 - and according to AVG's site (free.avg.com)version 9 is the latest, its Ok on 2000 so there should be no reason the earlier 7.5 wouldn't be as well. wainuitech (129)

Didn't the AV signature updates for 7.5 stop in Apr 2009?

851977 2010-01-26 09:02:00 Didn't the AV signature updates for 7.5 stop in Apr 2009? No Idea - dont use the program, only see the results of its failures. What I do remember is people that had earlier versions got prompts to upgrade to the newer. wainuitech (129)
851978 2010-01-26 09:07:00 AVG has been known to pick up false positives, deleting valid system files, after updating it. And not picking up anything at all. Its one AV program you should avoid Speedy Gonzales (78)
851979 2010-01-26 19:30:00 Am I the only person around here who doesn't bother to run an AV or seperate firewall? I only run them If I'm using a computer with XP, but I havent had any problems with vista and 7. They seem to have been secure enough as it is. Maybe I will install Security essentials tonight and see if I have anything haha baabits (15242)
