851730 2010-01-25 18:25:00 Overhead power lines are a travesty they should all be underground.
Ever been in light aircraft practicing forced landings? the whole country is needlessly criss crossed with them.
Well its karma for the dude he has lost his pines if insurance pays him I would be suprised.

You want to pay for the cost of under ground HT power?? I can sympathize with this farmer as he has been trying to get Transpower to do something for the past five years about these wire close to the trees but the Fwit did buy a farm with wires already in place and trying to get Transpower to remove them after be bought the farm is in cuckoo land..

851732 2010-01-25 19:30:00 Put yourself in his shoes.

Reminds me of Indonesia where the city council wanted to bulldoze my uncles' and aunts' block of shops .

Oh please.
Transpower hasn't and isn't bulldozing anything. They wanted some pylons across.
NIMBYS.

Whinge, whinge, whinge. But oh yes the screaming if the power stops.
No dams, no pylons, no coal stations, no this, no that.
Supposedly they are just supposed to make power by magic and beam it into your house without the need for wires.

Shoot the farmer.

Funny you say that, arent they experimenting with microwave power at the moment and plan on beaming it from space??
I think i would rather have the power lines i can see, same with putting them under ground

851734 2010-01-25 19:40:00 A nuclear power plant in Auckland would be the best way to go.
Another handy to Tiwai Point also.

851736 2010-01-25 20:40:00 Yes very good IDEA, let's put a Nuclear Power Station right in the middle of the Auckland CBD so we can be sure they don't have any more power cuts. zqwerty (97)
851737 2010-01-25 21:15:00 Put one in Tokeroa and a Russian built 60s model in Christchurch. prefect (6291)
851738 2010-01-25 21:17:00 Would not bother me having one in Tokoroa at all. Sweep (90)
