| 1131980 | 2010-08-28 04:30:00 | That sounds like a corrupted hard drive to me (starting to lose sectors), do a chkdsk (www.computerhope.com) on it (or use the recovery console to do same), and perhaps plan to back up your data quite soon :eek:. Aternatively, is this your laptop that had XP on it, and is now Win7, perhaps that old prog is not compatible with 7. I wouldn't start off with running CHKDSK. The reason being that if the drive is faulty, CHKDSK may kill it completely or cause additional data loss. If the drive does have bad sectors then they (or other problems) should show up in the SMART status. I use either Speedfan (runs in Windows) or HDAT2 (bootable) |
