2010-08-26 21:33:00 | I use XP SP3 with all updates .... Daughters lappy has Vista Home Premium and she can keep it ! Son has Win7 (32) and likes it ... I haven't tried it yet, but happy with what I've got. IF, and it may be a big IF, 7 becomes industry standard ... then I might consider changing. :2cents: There is NO question of 7 becoming industry standard, there is NO choice. There will come a time when XP is no longer supported. Anyway, SP1 is about to be released, so most business that require upgrading will, HP is stopping the downgrade option on new hardware as of Nov 1st, so yeah, no question! I use both x86 and x64 versions of 7 and have had no issues with either when using modern hardware, including printers.

2010-08-29 01:13:00 | i am going to try out win7 x32 and see how much better it is compared to vista ultimate x32. bro hasn't got his computer yet so i can take this license and can buy him win7 if it's that great. i have a 1.8 core 2 duo now with 4gb, vista is quite slow eh ... it's not struggling, it seems to be waiting. i don't really like tablets eh .. text reconigition isn't great, me thinks a normal laptop suit people or else a pc and a pad. the tablet laptop i find on the larger / heavy side and quite hot when used on the lap. cannot really see myself travelling with any laptops anymore, maybe a mac air book or that thin tosh or dell :D at least this laptop can be used in the lounge and occasionally outside as required. i find that some manufacturers these days tend to put the battery at the rear and have 9 cell versions so the battery sticks out

2010-08-29 02:20:00 | Yes I think Windows 7 is great. Its what Vista should have been. Just getting used to it though. It has so many nice new features that I would recommend anyone who could, updates from XP to 7 if they can. The way you can snap panes to the tight and left so quickly saves me lots of time. And I love the breadcrumbs path at the top of each folder (this was on Vista) And they seem to have had no major drive problems like they did with Vista. I am sure that many corporates will start to switch to 7. (Now if only I could afford Office 2010 Professional I saw it yesterday in Warehouse Stationary for $1,000!)

2010-08-29 04:30:00 | Currently downloading Ubuntu for my laptop, Had a gutfull of Vista, never have I hated an OS so much, Though it was made far far worse then it had to be by all the crap HP intergrated into it. I am hoping that the change of OS makes a large difference, Going by the specs this laptop should be a damn fine unit but it has never been better then a complete pig. Never again shall I curse myself with HP rubbish.

2010-08-29 14:28:00 | Anything but Vista - pctek is right, it is the new ME. I made the mistake of buying a netbook a while back with Vista on it. It had been very heavily discounted - with good reason. Vista made it nearly unusable, a pity because the actual hardware was fine, it was a really nice little machine. Vista also has major issues with Wifi on legacy routers, plus it is very slow and inefficient even with Aero and UAC turned off. I ended up offloading that netbook and buying another similar one with XP on it, which performs far far better. | laworder (12738) | |
2010-08-29 21:12:00 | It's utter crap. It did get some blue screens not long after recovery cd was performed. It's slow, HD is not hard out, it's just lots of delays. Doesn't surprise me people going to Linux. | Nomad (952) | |
2010-08-29 21:26:00 | Vista is actually faster loading than Win7 on this. It has never crashed on either on these. Well neither has Win7. I wouldn't be surprised if Vista was crap, if you brought a laptop / ready made system. (one reason I dont buy ready made systems). If I decided to buy a laptop, I would format it / get rid of all the crap I don't need. Since, most probably came with crap like Nortons, or Mcafees, (and all the HP / Dell / Acer crap), which would have made things worse. And made things even slower. I wouldn't bother with either, if Ubuntu worked with everything I have (inc these printers), I would gladly use it. But, getting some of these things to . I would need a degree.
