1131811 2010-08-26 08:44:00 Hi, im trying to set up a raid 0 array with two WD caviar black 500gb hard drives, but i have run into a problem, i have read alot of articles about how to set up raid 0 but when i go into my bios on my gigabyte p55a-ud4p none of the options look even remotely similar to the ones in the articles, could you please help me setup my raid array on my motherboard. :thanks smithinator (15240)
1131812 2010-08-26 08:48:00 Well the option is probably in the BIOS somewhere. You may / will have to install the RAID drivers in the setup (you'll have to do a clean install). Before you install windows. Read the manual Speedy Gonzales (78)
1131813 2010-08-26 08:53:00 i have read the manual that came with the motherboard and i have downloaded the manual from gigabytes website and neither mentioned raid i dont mind doing a clean install because my os has a few issues. smithinator (15240)
1131814 2010-08-26 08:55:00 Is it a revision 1 or 2 mobo? And what version of windows will you be installing? Speedy Gonzales (78)
1131815 2010-08-26 09:01:00 i have just downloaded a better manual for my motherboard and it looks like it has instructions on raid, i will try my best to get it working, sorry for the inconvenience smithinator (15240)
1131816 2010-08-26 09:03:00 Sweet. So did you get the sound working on this other computer? Speedy Gonzales (78)
1131817 2010-08-26 09:06:00 sadly my computers os decided to stop working so im using my mums laptop :( once i get the os back in and everything running smoothly i will get back to the other one (most likely in the weekend) smithinator (15240)
1131818 2010-08-26 09:08:00 k. Cool Speedy Gonzales (78)
1131819 2010-08-26 09:14:00 Have a look on Page 87 on the Manual. The instructions look clear enough to me.

Chapter 5 on page 87. It does everything but plug the cables in for you.

BTW I saved the manual on my PC as I think you are likely to have more questions.

1131820 2010-08-26 09:26:00 Normally you would set the SATA mode to RAID in the BIOS then save and exit.
Then while the machine is now booting you should get another screen with the option to enter the RAID setup and you normally have to press CTRL+A or something like that.
Once in there that is where you actually set what HDDs you want in the RAID and what RAID mode you want, 0 or 1.
