852377 2010-01-27 00:11:00 Hiya

I tried Fifa 08 demo for Xbox and it was a bit difficult to control with all the diff combinations . Also tried Ashes Cricket 09 for the PC (demo) again was difficult, you cannot use mouse .

Any easier controllable games out there?

For the TV question . What reso is HD Freeview or Blue Ray? If they are not full HD, what sort of difference is there between a partial HD and full HD? Are there big differences between Plasma / LCD / LED? I thought that Plasma is cheaper and can get a bigger screen . Since we have LCD now is this going to be a 3 yearly thing, that if you got the best at the time, something new will always be around the corner so is it better to get something less ideal .

I won't be streaming videos from the PC - with higher reso .

Cheers .

852378 2010-01-27 00:34:00 "Partial" HD is 720p - 1280x720. Full HD is 1080p, or 1920x1080. Despite this, 1080i is considered worse than 720p due to its interleaving nature.

Freeview resolution depends on the channel - TVNZ stream their channels in 720p, TV3 and (I think) C4 are 1080i. Chinese channel is one of the non-HD channels, being 576i.

852379 2010-01-27 01:00:00 Plasma maybe cheaper, but it also burns more power than LCD and LED Speedy Gonzales (78)

IIRC the last time I noticed on my TiVo, C4 and Prime are coming in at 576p.

Umm no dont think so. Otherwise there wouldnt be any point in having freeview built into the TV. Is the TV 1366x768, or full HD (1920*1080)?

Just checked on our TV with Freeview built in, they are indeed 576i.

With Fifa it's a case of practice makes perfect, but if you are after other games, racing games aren't usually too hard.

Blue ray is 1080p (aka Full HD - 1920*1080).

Driving games? Impossible on keyboard and the game pad .
Bro is into them and ordered a wheel .

I have tried NFS Shift, keyboard is juts impossible, keep turning too much . On Xbox have tried Dirt and something else . Maybe TOCA or something . . . .

Well he might...

You can only get Freeview HD through DVB-T, if the inbuilt tuner only did DVB-S then you'd have to get another.

So you'd have to check the TV specifications first...

And remember not everything they broadcast is 1080 anyway
