| 1455088 | 2018-10-30 22:22:00 | Who gets mail from seemingly reputable companies offering deals or prizes. These emails all seem to come from various USA addresses, and despite being directed to my junk mail folder and marked as spam and blocked, I still get more of them. Is there a better solution. I am using Outlook. | Richard (739) | ||
| 1455089 | 2018-10-30 23:12:00 | Hijacking. Once upon a time I signed up to Twitter to see what it was all about. 60 seconds later I was bored and have never been back. But they have my email addy, and I get swamped with *&^%$ emails from them, about people who I don't give a sh1t about. Hints to block? Permanently. I am using Outlook. |

I am using Outlook. Not enough info (pop3,imap,email host) so I'll just give some general suggestions Change email providers. Its sometimes the best solution for home users. If this is a business email adress, use a specialist Spam filtering service (eg SpamBlocker) Are you with xtra for email . They are having alot of email issues (have been for years). Dont expect it to get any better. If spam is going to your junk mail folder, then your antispam system is doing its job (to some extent) If imap, that spam folder may be the spam folder on your email hosts system. Generally, you need to be realistic. If you have an email adress, eventually you will get spam. You can assume your current email adress is on a spammers list, that list gets onsold to other spammers. It wont ever stop. Thats just how it is . :) |

| 1455092 | 2018-10-31 00:16:00 | While your antispam is doing a reasonible job, theres another way, if you are using any Email Program ( actually installed on your computer, NOT web Mail) then try Mailwasher. https://www.mailwasher.net/ Been using it for years, what it does is looks at the email BEFORE it actually hits your computer, you can tell it to allow or disallow what ever mails you want. For example, lets say you open mail washer, theres 20 mails, 19 may be rubbish or obvious spam, select them,- click wash mail, it deletes the ones you selected - and opens your email client only allowing the 1 you selected through. This morning I opened my mail, roughly 30 odd mails, all rubbish deleted the lot. BTW-- Doesn't matter what email you use, gmail, Microsoft your own ISP's or what format ( IMAP, SMTP, POP) it works on all of them. |

| 1455093 | 2018-10-31 02:45:00 | I concur with Wainui. Just over a month ago I had a spam attack with about 40,000 of the unneeded emails coming in over a period of about 2 weeks, but with a bit of tweaking of Mailwasher with the help of Wainui, the majority of them didn't get onto my computer. Highly recommended. :) |

| 1455094 | 2018-10-31 04:14:00 | Just to show how mailwasher works. I do it slightly different, I tick them all, then untick the ones I want to let through. ( this is because there's normally more spam and other junk than mails I want) ;) For some reason the pointer isn't showing in the demo below, BUT Open mailwasher, tick the box to select all, untick top one ( from Dove) Wash mail - the others are deleted from the Server, Outlook starts to open -- What would happen next is once Outlook is open the mail(s) I didn't delete will come through. As R.M pointed out "with a bit of tweaking of Mailwasher" you can make up your own rules, black list, White list, mark certain mails as spam, whole domains as spam /blacklist and you'll never get them again. The free mailwasher you can have only 1 account, the Pro is unlimited, mine has 4 email accounts it checks all at once :) Here's a quick video of it working as described above. streamable.com If you click on any mail there's a preview of the mail, it also shows the true address of where it was sent from. |

I am using Outlook. I'm using Outlook as well and getting the same problem. I went and deleted my safe senders list and then anything suspect mail goes to trash and from there was able to sort it. Seemed to work now as most genuine ones come to the inbox and 99% of the spam goes to junk box first time. |
