1453107 2018-08-24 11:08:00 I have 2 PCI slots with a working sound card. Decided to move it down a slot but it's not recognised in device manager. Reseated it and restarted multiple times, no joy. Put it back in the original slot and it works fine first boot.
I've never used this slot before so I don't know if it was ever working, but my motherboard is only 2 years old. Is it maybe deactivated in BIOS? Am I missing something or is the PCI slot dead?

You can see a photo here, it's the bottom black slot: www.asrock.com

1453108 2018-08-24 13:17:00 Got it working. I noticed a 'PCI input device' under sound in device manger which obviously must've been the card because it only appeared when plugged in. Reinstalled drivers, voila. Vicx (11114)

1453110 2018-08-25 01:25:00 I bought a new video card that generates a lot of heat (getting temps over 60c) so I moved my sound card down to give the gpu more room to breathe. Vicx (11114)
1453111 2018-10-22 18:45:00 PCI is becoming a thing of the past but some slots on some motherboards share resources and not all devices will work in them.
Which is of course in the motherboard manual.

The driver issue can depend on the OS in question and whether plug and play is enabled in the BIOS in some cases.
