| 1453371 | 2018-10-09 23:32:00 | Slightly different approach. My ancient Samsung Galaxy S2 is stuck on Android OS 4.2.1. Increasingly I am losing Apps as they require later Android versions. I cannot afford a new phone. Is there any way to use some 3rd party app to override Android 4.2.1 to a later version or is such a technique too risky? |

There is definite Risk. I had a Samsung S4 that had CyanogenMod installed. The cam software never worked reliably . You might brick the phone if you stuff up the install . There may be bugs you need to work through . It may be really slow with newer Android versions . wiki.lineageos.org |
