1452976 2018-08-24 04:05:00 In the past, standard install ISO's/Cd wouldnt work on VL keys . Not sure if the same with 10.
So a re-install might to be a problem, as would updates via DVD: eg update to 1803 from DVD .
I think using a live login is also blocked, but that could be a good thing :) Just an update to these -- I loaded up a education version.
The first window when you get to the account creation asks to join a work or school account, or the other option (bottom Left) is join a Domain. If you try a standard Live /Outlook account it spits the dummy, then offers a Local account.

It will allow you to log into Outlook.com Via a browser (email) should you want.

It was a HP preload .
So out of box & initialise Win was no different to any other , Win is up & running (local user a/c) .

However, 1803 of course wont install via updates, downloads OK (in Win updates) & starts 1803 install (from updates), fails & repeats and fails & repeats :badpc:

Now the fun really starts. Usually I'd just use a 1803 DVD to update it from the old build ver.
But being a Edu Lic , god knows what disk I need for it.
MS have a separate page for the separate Edu 10 downloads , but they noted a install key will be needed .
So fingers crossed .

Any help with my MS Office problem. Where should I look to see if it has been activated? Thanks PJ Is the 2016 (standalone 1 time purchase) or Office 365 (subscription based)

If you're not to sure, how much did they charge you for it ? (the price will tell if its Subscription or One Off)

If you had a Subscription, then changed over to stand alone the old subscription based should have been uninstalled first.

It s the MS 356 personal & paid yearly, this one was $119. I paid this to Noel Leemings & got the box with the new code. I processd it as per instructions( remember this is PJ you are dealing with!!!!). Clearly I am living up to my reputation & got it wrong again. PJ

So the sooner we all change the better.
I've been on it for 4 years now.
