I can have multiple speakers connected, but only one can be registered as an audio output at a time.
Looking into the dev forums, there seems to be some code has been written and conf options for allowing more than one, but it hasn’t been fully implemented (may also depend on specific, non-reference hardware).

1452963 2018-08-22 08:55:00 Thanks for that Fred, I think that tidies that up.

So what’s your thoughts on THIS (thenextweb.com)?

I think I can see what they are doing, but how, is above me.

Broadly, locking down channels and readdressing them?

1452964 2018-08-22 11:23:00 The basic workings remain the same. Everyone still needs to use the AmpMe app — which is free and available on iOS or Android. One person acts as the “host,” and they can play music from SoundCloud, YouTube, or their own local library. AmpMe uses high-frequency sounds to sync all the devices together, and rom there, there’s no upper limit on the amount of speakers or phones you can loop together. The only limit is that you can only connect one speaker to each phone.Same "one device" limit applies. fred_fish (15241)
1452965 2018-08-23 22:53:00 I know Sony has a "party chain" feature on some of their Bluetooth speakers that allows them to play audio on multiple speakers We do it with three, but supposedly supports up to ten speakers), but one downside is that the speakers have to be within a metre of each other. the_bogan (9949)
