1452823 2018-09-06 05:03:00 Not sure what's going on with your USB connection but a possible work around for transferring files back and forth is a wifi file sharing app.
I use one called WiFi File transfer Pro, you fire it up and it gives you an IP address that you can input into any browser on the same network and remotely access your device.

I've tried it on windows with Chrome & Edge and Ubuntu with FF and they all worked just fine. A cable's still better but at least it might be better than nothing.
I haven't tried it while using the phone as a hotspot but it seems like that should still work.

I think there might be an offical app too as my phone is prone to asking me if I'm "still using a cable?" when I transfer files that way and wants to suggest something else that I've been happily ignoring but I'm not sure if that's an android thing or a samsung one.

1452824 2018-09-06 07:44:00 I use the phone as a Mobile Hot Spot to connect to Internet.

I used to be able to access Internet by USB Tethering but in the phone that option is now greyed out.

Very frustrating as I used to be able to switch music and photos between PC and Phone

Can anyone think of any other options?.

Thanks
Neil

You can check the USB debugging mode to see if it is on.

1452825 2018-09-07 00:32:00 USB debugging is developers mode, accessed by hitting Build in the About Phone, 7 times or however longer it tells you when you do it 3 times. Kame (312)
1452826 2018-09-10 08:08:00 Using the USB cable to transfer files from Samsung to computer is not difficult , it could also be that the file format is too large, or that the phone is not fully connected to the computer .
This article is about some data transfers and hope it can help u : www.android-rescuer.com

1452827 2018-09-10 10:07:00 You can stop mucking about with a Faulty cable setup. THIS WORKS, just tried it.

Download a file transfer program to your phone via the Play Store, connect it to your wireless, transfer -- Just tried a program called AirMore, transferred over 100 photos in a matter of seconds.

Heres a video on how to use it www.youtube.com Their site https://airmore.com/
