1453239 2018-09-01 22:39:00 Over the last two days I have had thousands of emails with the above heading on each one. They all appear to have '@xtra.co.nz' addresses, each one different as far as I can see, and none from any that I recognise.

I contacted Spark yesterday, and their only suggestion was to block the email(s) - (just imagine doing that!) and suggested it was spam. I haven't done anything differently from usual (nothing particularly dangerous as far as I know).

I use Microsoft Outlook 2010 for my email, along with Mailwasher Pro. It is not particularly easy to change emails, as I am the main communicator for a club that I belong to, as well as all the others I remain in contact with around the world.

Any suggestions would be welcome. :)

And always - TIA!

1453240 2018-09-01 23:00:00 Since you have mailwasher Pro theres a few things you can do.

Give this a go, once done contact someone you know and ask them to send you one or two mails right away just to make sure you can still receive them. if not then remove the rule.

Open mailwasher - Top Tab - settings- Spam Tools - Blacklist - Select Wildcard Expression, copy in Mail Delivery System Failure Access Suspended then click Add. (Edited) make sure you type it exactly as the message says - you may have a typo theres two i's in the heading.

Try your mail, mailwasher should block them (and bounce back to spark), if spark start complaining tell them to sort out their sh1t :D, it may take a couple of goes, if it doesn't try putting a * in front so it reads *Mail Delivery System Failure Access Suspended

Save if prompted, to remove it look down your list it will be the last entry ( as long as you didn't add any more) - Single click it to select, click - Delete.

1453241 2018-09-01 23:19:00 Thanks, Wainui. I knew I could rely on you (if you were up and doing!). I'll report back later. :) R.M. (561)

1453243 2018-09-02 02:50:00 Glad to be of help.

Just for future reference, should you get more unwanted spam or emails just make up rules like this one to block. To Block a domain all you do is put a * in front of it and you'll block all from that domain.

Example: I'll make this address up -- lets say block everything from fakesite. *@fakesite.co.nz Then nothing from would come through from that domain.

1453244 2018-09-03 02:13:00 You probably need to update the recipients of those email addresses, many did not switch in the change over or they moved on to another provider. Mail delivery could well be the mail server response when it can't send the mail. Kame (312)
1453245 2018-09-03 03:18:00 I don't know any of them...

And there were probably more than 5000+ of them! Definitely spam. :(

1453246 2018-09-03 04:38:00 Interesting.

Every now and then when emailing friends with @xtra.co.nz addresses I get it bounced, saying Rejected cause of spam content.
No matter what the email or subject.

usually resolves next day, but grrrrr........why do they use this crap email?!

Got a couple of clients who are dutch. If they send emails written in dutch, xtra stop them claiming to be spam ( same message --Rejected cause of spam content.) . Translate the exact same message (same email address etc) but write it in English they go perfectly with no problems.

and there's no reason it should have been after they took it away from Yahoo
Makes me wonder just how little they wanted to pay SMX to host it for them. Must have been some bottom of the line , cut price , pay the very least sort of deal

Yahoo is now blocking some xtra emails, just to add to the fun . :badpc:
