1452762 2018-08-16 06:22:00 For a few weeks now, our little Affinity Photo team (10) have been researching the best FREE screen capture program. Naturally we started with the Microsoft

"Snipping Tool", and whilst it is good, for our purposes (photo editing), but we need a higher resolution image. On of our group researched and came up
with a spreadsheet comparison (not shown - as yet).

It seems clear to us, at the moment, that "Screenshot Captor" is the best on offer, for our purposes. Apart from a highish dpi, it also gives the option
of saving in TIF (as well as Jpeg).

It is a minefield, out there, as most firms want to sell you something. A search for FREE with indicators, gives you "free download", then a big payment after a

few weeks. We are mindful of Softonic, which gives you additional "extras".

Have you any additional suggestions - it appears to us that Screenshot Captor may well be the best bet for FREE and highish resolution.

1452765 2018-08-16 22:50:00 I find Greenshot is good to use and is free, not sure about resolution Ofthesea (14129)
1452766 2018-08-17 05:02:00 Thanks piroska, but we found the prtsc not good enough for our needs.

ManUFan - not interested in .bmp, but will have a look. Thanks.

Ofthesea - Thanks, will have a look. I see from the writeup that one thing that we are not looking for, in our current, project,
but would be useful in other situations, is that the writeup for Greenshot includes "you can even capture complete (scrolling) web
pages"

1452767 2018-08-19 01:23:00 I’ve used a programme called PicPick for years now and found it excellent for screen capture and editing.

It’s free and works with Linux or Winwoes.

1452768 2018-08-19 23:29:00 Hi BM - PicPick was one of the ones we evaluated. I don't have the results in front of me, so can't comment, but thanks, anyway! Misty (368)

1452770 2018-08-22 05:26:00 Thanks 1101 - I have passed your suggestion onto our "Chief Tester"! :nerd: Misty (368)
1452771 2018-08-22 22:36:00 Hi again 1101 - Two of our group tried out Skitch. Here are their separate comments -

"Downloaded this on to my PC.

Has a few nice options e.g. arrow, text, shapes etc.

Took a shot of a 2.5MB tiff ended up as 3.44Mb?"

then the other (partly in response)

"after a few probs with evernote got skitch d'loaded and use girl with garland as target, skitch yielded .47M @ 96ppi which worst performing. i didnt try further
sean - presume change in size due to change in resolution?"

We won't be pursuing Skitch, but hope this feedback helps you. Have a see whether Screenshot Captor might suit you, perhaps?
