1133025 2010-08-30 06:57:00 Im trying to pull my laptop apart.
I found a compartment that was empty (see photos)
what is the compartment likely for?
And after undoing all the screws i could see, the top panel still wouldnt completely unclip all the way around. should i just pull it harder?

1133026 2010-08-30 07:20:00 Want to share with us the make and model of the laptop? Then we could perhaps get the manual from the net and make ( hopefully ) fully informed opinions rather than just wild guesses. Snorkbox (15764)

1133029 2010-08-30 08:52:00 It looks like it could be a slot for a mini-PCIe card - on models which have the appropriate slot soldered to the motherboard. I can't see any obvious sign of the connector in the photos you've uploaded.

In terms of completely disassembling your laptop, check for screws that go from the top of the laptop down - i.e. hidden under the panel near the hinge, or under the keyboard. There are often little plastic clips which are designed to be easy to click in place, but really difficult to release which go all the way around the case, so you need to be careful.

1133030 2010-08-30 10:36:00 I was going to say maybe mini PCI, It indicates hardware because of the ventilation grills. I would like a mini PCI Like that, put a new wireless NIC with a beasty antennae without having to rewire the screen The Error Guy (14052)
1133031 2010-08-30 11:58:00 I pulled the laptop apart (fyi kb needed removing first, with the tiny clips at the top of the kb, to get to more screws underneath it.) and theres no connectors or anything at all where the compartment is. I thought mini pci, but theres nothing there... and the wifi card is between the hdd and ram under the main flap at the bottom... jareemon (5207)
