1132876 2010-08-29 15:57:00 My new pc (win7, Gigabyte GA-P43-ES3G intel P43, Intel Core 2 Duo E7500 3.0GHz, Samsung 1TB 32 MB 7200RPM, Seasonic SS-500ET Active PFC, Transcend 2GB DDR2 800, Samsung DVD-RW SH-S223F x22, Gainward 9500GT 512MB GDDR2) fails to connect to my tv set using a cable connected via a DVI connection.
When I plug the TV cable and start my system, the computer starts with a black screen, tries to enter its default os (it's a dual boot system - xp and win7), but gets stuch when reaching microsoft's four color flag. Takin apart the cable, opens the way for completion of startup.
When I plug the cable on a running system, the screen blackens and stabilized this way.
What's wrong?

p.s. This same cable managed to transmit pc information to the tv set using an older pc, which I used in the past.

When you are connecting the break-out cable to the TV, it is acting as the primary monitor, to fix as secondary, connect once the pc is up and running then check the properties of the display panel and set your preferences for multiple monitor output!..the TV probably blacks out on startup because the display resolution is not supported by the TV

1132879 2010-08-29 22:43:00 It looks like the PC is outputting the desktop to the DVI connection - hence why you are only seeing the desktop background image on your PC screen. Possibly it is outputting a signal that the TV can't handle? I would boot up normally, then plug in the cable and muck around with the dualview settings in the nvidia control panel.

Edit - damn sol, too fast for me this morning!

1132880 2010-08-30 06:58:00 Does your TV have a DVI connection, or are you using DVI to HDMI? Greven (91)

All drivers are fully updated. I'm using Driver Genius Professional for this purpose.

Your diagnosis may be right, but it misses one point, which makes the situation more complicated.

Some time ago, with another pc, the symptoms were identical to the ones you put your fingers on: when I started my pc with the cable plugged in, my pc monitor stayed black, while all post messages were seen on my tv. When I plugged the cable to an actively working system, all signals were seen on my tv, gived a correct specification of the multiple monitoe window.
Now, with my new pc, the situation has deterirated, when I start the pc with a plugged cable, the startup sequence gets stuck when it reached the four color flag of MS. (If I disconnect the cable at this point, startup completes successfully. When, on the other hand, i plug in the cable to a working system, the monitor balckens and I can do nothing.

Jow do I cope with the new situation?

As I added earlier, the current system doesn't let me plug the cable while its active.

In addition, since this same wiring with another pc was transmitting successfully, it doesn't look like a signal that the tv can't handle.

1132884 2010-09-02 20:08:00 I wouldnt use programs like Driver Genius to install the drivers. Go to whatever site instead. Download the drivers, then install them.

Someone else here tried that trick, and had the same prob (the program by the looks of it picked the wrong drivers), and the sound wouldn't work

Hi, is the new system the one in your sig?...isnt the 940 1440x900, which I doubt the TV can handle and if you plug the TV into the working system it will try to clone at that res straight away...I would download then nvidia drivers for your pc from the nvidia site and after clearing old driver set resolution to something lower like 1024x768, then plug the TV in and set the resolutions for both TV and LCD at the correct resolution.
