854387 2010-02-01 19:19:00 My grandfather supports assisted suicide as his first wife (Dad's mum) had cancer, and suffered quite badly. (She died the year before I was born, so all I have to go by is what Dad tells me.) pcuser42 (130)
854388 2010-02-01 19:29:00 I do think it is a bit of a minefield as we could see people knocking off Granny for the inheritance willy nilly etc.

I still think I would prefer to die with some dignity and would prefer that someone could do it for me if I was physically incapable.

Indeed - it's a great idea in theory, but mapping out the finer points is very difficult, as death is rather irrevocable; capital punishment suffers from the same issue.

Still, as is so often held up as an example, we're allowed to put our pets down when they suffer; surely humans should be afforded the same right.

854390 2010-02-01 20:43:00 I wonder how far Cryogenics have got.

Just be frozen for the next 500 years or so and be revived when they have found a cure for whatever ails you.

854392 2010-02-01 21:04:00 No one is going to wake you up in 500 years, Its not like there will be a shortage of people and someone will think, hey, we need more mouths to feed, lets wake up these sick old timers and spend a few million curing their disease.... Metla (12)

Possibly.......................

Then again they should have a cure for everything by then.

Still bet that people will still be waging war though.
