853537 2010-02-02 17:03:00 As someone who has completely gone over to the dark side and loves his Macs...hell I've got a Macbook, a MBPro, an iMac an iPhone and was so looking forward to the iPad...I have never been so disappointed.

I imagined it would be like a Macbook combined with an iPhone...sleek,fast, stylish and reasonably open....

but the reviewer said it better than I can..

"I’ll close with this: if I didn’t think the iPad was an important device, I wouldn’t be bothering to criticize its politics. Like Steven Frank, I think this a new world, a new era, and I’m not interested in hanging on to the past. Like Joe Hewitt, I’m excited to develop for the iPad, and to use what others develop for it as well.

As I said at the top of this post, I’ve been waiting for years for what comes after the PC, and I truly believe that Apple has shown it to us. That’s why it matters so crucially that this next leg of the computer revolution gets off on the right path, one that embraces openness rather than abhors it. We have the technology and the incentive to build the future of computing in an open way. The only reason not to is greed, laziness, and hubris."

So no, I won't be buying an iPad..

853539 2010-02-02 21:54:00 Not that I would ever have one, but if I did want one, I'd get one from someone else, like MSI. Agent_24 (57)

853542 2010-02-03 05:56:00 and reasonably open....

Something open from Apple??? That'll be the day. Every new iPod makes it impossible for applications other than iTunes to work with them and developers have to reverse engineer the changes all over again.

Besides that, the iPad can only run one application at once. My cheap Nokia phone can do better.

It has no keyboard, no camera, and no phone. The only thing it's good for is browsing web sites and watching videos. Without an E-ink screen it also sucks as an e-book reader.

Even if I wasn't so anti-Apple I'm sure I'd never have a use for this thing.

853543 2010-02-03 06:06:00 You can use other programs for Ipods now. Winamp, mediamonkey, songbird, to name a few. All 3 support them natively. I was going to (well had to) install Itunes, because I was going to install the latest version of Corel Videostudio Pro x3, so I can edit MP4 files (it installs an old version of Quicktime). But QT is so crappy and buggy (the latest version/s cant even open MP4 files, without either freezing, or stuttering). But thought about it. I wont bother. Since Windows 7 plays MP4 natively. And does a better job than QT (at least it plays the file/s without freezing the program) Speedy Gonzales (78)

You do know that the iWheel was just a joke by the Onion...
