Can one only get the heat pump subsidy only when you have sufficient insulation?

www.energywise.govt.nz

It also says if you want insulation subsidy you need to do both floor and ceiling if you can access them.

So to get heat pump subsidy I need to do floor and ceiling insulation before I can get it for the heat pump?

Yes, you have to have the lot.

853255 2010-01-29 01:13:00 I guess we may just get the heat pump installed without subsidy .

Little incentive to add insulation for maybe $8k, get $1 . 3k back, buy a $4k to have a heat pump fitted and get back $500 .

853256 2010-01-29 01:42:00 If you dont like the incentive, dont use it .

If you want the benifits from insulation or a heat pump you are able to obtain these without subsidy, you just need to pay the full price .

I would say that if you are not going to insulate, don't get a heat pump!
You would just be wasting money!

853258 2010-01-29 03:12:00 At the moment if it was winter, we would have 2 heaters in the main room going for hours a day.

Then 1 in each bedroom.

Doing insulation would cost heaps. $8k perhaps.
From what I understand heat pump is more efficient than regular heaters.

853259 2010-01-29 03:30:00 How much would the full price of insulation cost - the ceiling and floor?

I am assuming 8k cos a new kitchen remodelled could cost $12k.
Maybe 5k?

I disagree . Let's say you have an inulated ceiling but not underfloor, but you have layers fo flooring inc carpet .
And you currently use an electric heater .
And you are on a pension .
So you shouldn't bother wanting the heat pump then .
This was a real situation .

Putting pink bats in the ceiling, is a job most able homeowners could manage themselves. All you need is a ladder and a big knife.

1 bail would cost around $100 and cover around 10 square metres. Suggest you price up at your local hardware store.

I would think most homes would be in the 100 to 200 square meter range. You can do the math.

Bats underfloor is similar, but tricker to fit.
