Does anyone think that the Tongans are that stupid? Being an overstayer does not automatically mean you are an idiot. Anyone who thinks that being accepted into any maori tribe will give you residency has to be less than a half wit. What made anyone think that Tongans - or anyone - would be stupid enough to believe that?:illogical I reiterate: Many maori that I have spoken to are not activists and do not want to be associated with those who are. Although "ashamed" is apt, I have heard the word "embarrassed" used. It seems that most maori do not want to be associated with this minority. It does seem a shame that these idiot maoris are making life difficult for those decent maoris who will - no doubt - have the misfortune to be tarred with the same brush. I believe that it is about time the majority stood up to this stupid minority. The silent majority need to make it known that they do not support these troublemakers. It's time to make it known that the minority do not speak for the majority, even though the minority say that they speak for all maori. I have quite a few maori friends and they tell me that they have never been asked if they agree. If they were asked, the answer would be a resounding, "No!" |

I know many Maori's, play, work, extertain with them, some in NZ, some in Oz, and they are embarrassed by all this petty whining from the IWI's, they couldn't agree more that IWI stands for I WANT IT. These are Maori that have worked hard, earnt there bits of paper from the Uni's and the like, have worked darn hard to pay off the mortgage with no outside help and no whining, what they have they have earnt it the hard way. And they can take as well as give back there share of Maori jokes that would knock the socks off the PC mob and those whining want it all on a silver plate for free Maori's. |

But sad to say it is a very vocal minority that get the headlines as that is what is reported. The minority can get laws changed as has been happening. Any vocal minority lobby group can do the same. You are correct that all Maori are getting tarred with same brush as the activists. Skin colour matters not to me. I just take people as I find them. However I don't think you can deny that Maori are over represented in statistics when it comes to prison population, health issues etc. The Maori have a problem as a race in so far as they can't even agree between tribes in spite of all the korero and hikoi. All voters in a general election seem to be more or less split between National or Labour with others voting for other parties so even those who vote can't seem to agree on what is important for New Zealand as a whole. I will also add that I have no silver bullet to solve all the problems. Maybe Metla or Prefect for PM? |
