856466 2010-02-09 01:09:00 Anything negative in doing an upgrade from Vista to 7?
How long would it take?

Quicker to just do a fresh install?

856467 2010-02-09 01:15:00 Always a clean install.

That's my motto anyway. Far less things to go wrong with clean.

856470 2010-02-09 01:27:00 It's easy - a clean install took me about 10 minutes flat on a clean drive on my Asus.

Whereas when I tried an upgrade on a month-old Toshiba, I tried 4 times before I realised I could do a clean install from the upgrade disk. Then took about 20 minutes to run through it (IIRC)...

Just back up your data onto another partition, and accept that you will have to reinstall your apps.

Piece of cake.

Unless you slipstream them with Nlite or something. Before you reinstall XP

Does XP have native network drivers?? Errr yes it does - done countless installs of XP and its picked up the Network/LAN drivers right away.

Just done one today, XP SP3 - depends on what drivers are required on the Motherboard.
