| 855540 | 2010-02-05 07:06:00 | Recent discussion about using O/D or 5th gear around town prompts me to ask about something I was told recently. I was told that it is better for the auto if it is left in O/D all the time. I have mostly been in the habit of switching the O/D off when in town and also off when travelling up an incline where the auto kept changing up and down. That last bit makes sense. I was also told that it is not a good idea to coast downhill in O/D. My Mitzi Galant changes out of O/D going down hill by itself some times. Does anyone have any technical reason why the auto should be left in O/D around town and why it should be disconnected going downhill? |

If you leave O/D on,you will tend to get the box hunting when going up hills,so best to use when cruising. |
